Experience Craftsmanship,
Shape Culture –
Become a host organization
Since September 2024, young people have had the opportunity to discover skilled trades and get involved in culture-oriented workshops through a voluntary service program. The program initially started with five placement sites in Brandenburg. It includes a variety of Trade fields, from glass studios and theater carpentry to print shops. For young people, it offers a chance to gain insight into a Trade career and supports them in their career choice. Culture-oriented Trade professions provide an attractive area for young people to explore their skills and talents. During their career orientation phase, experiencing a high level of independent, creative work and personal effectiveness can be highly motivating. During their one-year voluntary service, volunteers participate in a supporting educational program that connects culture, Trade, working environments, and social engagement. The seminars address different forms of work: What distinguishes trade professions from other occupational fields? How can trade work look in today’s and tomorrow’s society, and what conditions are needed to make trade professions attractive again for young people?
The Brandenburg program “Culture Meets Trade” is the first of its kind nationwide. Until now, Trade-oriented placement fields were not structurally integrated into the Voluntary Services in Culture and Education. The program is funded and supported by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture of the State of Brandenburg.
