Culture meets Trade sites

“Culture Meets Trade” is a new project by LKJ Brandenburg that has been offering young people the opportunity to explore skilled trades through a voluntary service since September 2024. In culture-oriented workshops - such as glass studios, theater carpentry shops, or a historic printing workshop - they can gain hands-on experience and discover their own strengths. The program initially launched with five placement sites in Brandenburg and combines creative, trade-based work with cultural education and career orientation. Accompanying this, volunteers participate in an educational program addressing topics such as work environments, self-efficacy, and social engagement. “Culture Meets Trade” is the first program of its kind in Germany and is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture of the State of Brandenburg.

Alte Hölle

The Alte Hölle in Wiesenburg is a vibrant place that combines trade, art, digital innovation, and sustainable living. As a seminar house and project center, the association creates space for encounters, knowledge exchange, and collaborative creation—bringing together local community and creative vision. Here, practical workshops, digital innovation, and cultural work merge into an open network for shaping a sustainable future.

Cottbus State Theater Workshops

The workshops of the Staatstheater Cottbus offer a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at one of Brandenburg’s most renowned theaters. In areas such as set design, props, costumes, and makeup, the visual foundations of each production are brought to life through skilled trades and artistic creativity. In addition to hands-on theater work, planning, organization, and creative processes are part of the dynamic daily routine—making it a place where art and trade come together.

Museum and Glass Studio Baruther Glashütte

The Baruther Glashütte is a unique museum village in southern Brandenburg that brings history and craftsmanship vividly to life. In the historic buildings of the former glassworks visitors can explore the fascinating history of glassmaking. The Baruther Glashütte Museum offers an impressive insight into how glass was once produced and highlights the importance of this craft for the region. In the glass studio, guests can watch skilled glassmakers at work or take part themselves. Through glassblowing or engraving, they can create individual works of art from hot, molten glass.

Neue Bühne Senftenberg Workshops

Here, theatrical art and craftsmanship come together directly: whether in the workshop, the paint studio, or behind the scenes, there are opportunities to take an active part in creating productions and to help shape culture in a hands-on way. In this creative environment, it becomes clear how ideas are transformed into stage worlds, offering valuable experience in the interplay of art, craft, and theatrical operation.

Sonnensegel

The Children and Youth Art Gallery Sonnensegel e.V. in Brandenburg an der Havel has been a vibrant place for cultural education and creative expression since 1990. Located in the historic Old Latin School at Gotthardkirchplatz, the association offers children and young people space to discover and develop their artistic talents in painting, graphics, sculpture, literature, and new media. A special highlight is the Gutenberg Print Workshop, where young people can experience the traditional craft of letterpress printing and create their own printed works. Through workshops, exhibitions, and creative projects, Sonnensegel combines art, craftsmanship, and education – an inspiring place where creativity and history come alive.

Industrial Museum Brandenburg
an der
Havel
