“Are you interested in contributing your experience
and trying out a new field of activity?
In the intergenerational volunteer service, it doesn't matter your age – you can contribute your knowledge and learn new things. Life involves transitional phases in which we seek to reorient ourselves. Volunteering in culture and education can be the starting point for your new path and give you insights into new areas of life. Whether you're after training, taking a break, transitioning into a new career, or retiring, Brandenburg offers a wide range of opportunities to get a fun and engaging look behind the scenes of art, culture, and education.
“Experience community -
expand your knowledge -
additional educational days for you!
You'll explore cultural and educational topics with other volunteers from across Brandenburg. You'll have one educational day per month, get to know each other, exchange ideas, and meet at various locations in Brandenburg or even Berlin. You can also choose free educational days based on your own interests.
“Everything about your Federal Volunteer Service -
how is it organized?”
Your volunteer service in the BFD Culture & Education program typically lasts 12 months. However, you can also choose between 6 and 18 months. The volunteer service usually starts on September 1st each year, but can also start at other times of the year. As a volunteer, you will receive a monthly allowance and a volunteer ID card. This ID card entitles you to discounts, such as discounts on admission to some institutions. Upon completion of the service, you will receive a certificate and a statement.

"You're not from Germany
and you want to do volunteer work."
This is possible, and there are a few things to keep in mind. You need a residence permit or a visa. You can also apply for a residence permit (according to Section 19c, Paragraph 1) specifically for your volunteer service. You do not need a visa if you are from the European Union or are a citizen of one of the following countries: Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Ukraine, and the United States of America.
You can find information about this in various languages in the “A – Z” section
