How does the recognition process as a host organization work?
  • Your recognition as a host organization in the FSJ/BFD Culture and Education program is granted by us as the supporting organization and by the Federal Office for Family and Civil Society Functions (BAFzA).

  • The legal basis for this recognition is the Youth Voluntary Service Act (JFDG) and the Federal Voluntary Service Act (BFDG).

  • In addition, recognition depends on the availability of public funding for voluntary service programs and on compliance with the quality standards set by the nationwide umbrella organization (BKJ) for Voluntary Services in Culture and Education.

  • If you would like to become a placement site with us in the upcoming year, please fill out the recognition forms provided below and feel free to contact us.

How do volunteers join us?
The placement process:

  • In the Youth Voluntary Services (FSJ/BFD), the voluntary year usually starts at the beginning of September and lasts for 12 months.

  • In the intergenerational Federal Voluntary Service (BFD 27plus), participants can start at any time of the year and may also serve on a part-time basis.

  • Voluntary service placements generally last 12 months, although 6- or 18-month terms are also possible.

  • The lkj Brandenburg is part of the nationwide network of organizations offering Voluntary Services in Culture and Education. This network provides an online placement portal.

  • Through the portal www.freiwilligendienste-kultur-bildung.de

  • After registering and creating their profile, volunteers can search specifically for suitable placements.

  • The annual application period for the Youth Voluntary Services (for participants aged 16–26) starts on February 1st each year.
