Not only young people, but also adults of all ages from 27 onwards have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and actively through the Federal Volunteer Service (BFD 27+). The volunteer service is explicitly open to people in different stages of life - whether after a professional career, during a phase of personal orientation, or as a conscious social commitment alongside other activities. The opportunities for placement are diverse, ranging from cultural, educational, and scientific institutions to engagement within local communities. The Federal Volunteer Service offers the chance to gain new experiences, apply and further develop one’s own skills, and actively take on responsibility for society.

Alttöplitz Church

The Protestant Parish of Alttöplitz is a vibrant part of church life in the region. At its heart are community, faith, and active compassion. In addition to regular worship services in the historic village church, the parish offers a wide range of activities for people of all ages – including musical events, discussion groups, children’s and youth programs, and seasonal celebrations. As an open and welcoming congregation, Alttöplitz is also actively involved in regional cooperation with neighboring parishes. It is a place of encounter, reflection, and shared experience of faith in everyday life.

lkj Brandenburg

The lkj Brandenburg is the central network and professional association for cultural education with children and young people in the state of Brandenburg. It supports and connects those active in cultural youth education, promotes projects in art, music, media, theatre, and more - and is committed to participation, diversity, and youth involvement.

As the coordinating organization for the Voluntary Services in Culture and Education, with around 100 placement sites across Brandenburg, the lkj Brandenburg offers young people hands-on experience in cultural professions and a wide range of opportunities to get involved and make a difference.

Multicultural Center Templin

Culture by the City Lake - The Multicultural Centre (MKC) is the cultural heart of Templin - located right by the lake and offering a diverse program of films, concerts, theatre performances, readings, exhibitions, and festivals. The venue is a vibrant meeting place for culture enthusiasts from the region and beyond. Its roots reach back to the 19th century: once used as a hotel and bathing establishment, the building became known as a cinema and event venue from 1913 onward. Today, the MKC continues this tradition – modern, open, and dedicated. Highlights such as the “Wasserspiele Templin” (Templin Water Festival) and the high-quality cinema program make the MKC a cornerstone of the Uckermark’s cultural scene.

Museum and Glass Studio Baruther Glashütte

A technology and art museum with a glass studio, it offers fascinating insights into the over 300-year history of glassmaking. In addition to glassmaking courses and demonstrations, you can expect educational programs, special exhibitions, and a wide range of cultural events such as music, theater, sports, and markets. Historical research and marketing are also part of the daily routine at the museum village.

PeWoBe International
work

PeWoBe gGmbH is committed to social and educational initiatives in the state of Brandenburg, with a strong focus on international youth work. Its goal is to provide young people with intercultural experiences, open up global perspectives, and promote learning in solidarity. In cooperation with partner organizations across Europe and beyond, PeWoBe organizes exchange projects, study trips, professional meetings, and international volunteer services. Central themes include democracy, diversity, sustainability, and social justice.

Castle and Residence Town of Greiz

Experience History - The museums of the castle and residence town of Greiz invite visitors to explore the rich history and cultural diversity of this former princely residence. Whether in the Upper and Lower Castles, the Summer Palace, or the Museum in the Lower Castle - visitors encounter impressive exhibitions on courtly culture, art, regional history, and architecture. Special highlights include the princely living quarters, historical collections, changing special exhibitions, and the expansive Greiz Park, with the Summer Palace serving as a gallery for graphic and book art. The museums bring the city’s cultural heritage to life in many different ways - for history enthusiasts, families, and art lovers alike.

Free Nature School Mecklenburg Lake District

Learning in and with Nature – The Free Nature School Mecklenburg Lake District embodies a holistic, nature-based approach to education. Situated in one of northern Germany’s most beautiful landscapes, the school guides children along their individual learning paths – outdoors, hands-on, and engaging all the senses. At its core are practical experience, community spirit, and the connection between knowledge, the environment, and personal development. The school works across age groups, in a project-oriented way, and without the pressure of grades – a place where curiosity, independence, and a deep bond with nature can truly grow.

Senckenberg German Entomological Institute (SDEI)

The Senckenberg German Entomological Institute (SDEI) in Müncheberg, with over 130 years of research history, is an internationally renowned center for entomology. Founded in 1886, it became part of the prestigious Senckenberg Society for Nature Research in 2009. The SDEI serves as an open platform for science, education, and consulting. Researchers from around the world make use of its collections and databases, while students can find exciting topics for their theses in fields such as taxonomy, genetics, GIS analysis, and much more.

City Museum Brandenburg an der Havel

The City Museum of Brandenburg an der Havel offers a fascinating insight into the history of one of Brandenburg’s oldest towns. It is spread across several historic sites, including the Gothic Old Town Hall complex and the Frey House. The exhibitions trace the city’s development from a Slavic settlement to an industrial town, highlighting themes such as craftsmanship, everyday life, politics, and culture. Original exhibits, models, and multimedia installations bring the past vividly to life and make history tangible for visitors.

Wendish Museum

Located in the heart of Cottbus, the Wendish Museum invites visitors to discover the unique culture and history of the Sorbs/Wends in Lower Lusatia. Housed in a stylish neoclassical building, the museum presents a diverse collection of items relating to the language, customs, daily life, and artistic creations of this Slavic minority. The exhibition impressively demonstrates how the Sorbian/Wendish identity has been cultivated through traditions for generations – and remains alive to this day. Changing special exhibitions, events, guided tours and educational programs make the Wendish Museum an open place for learning and experiencing.

House of Encounter

The House of Encounter is an open and diverse meeting place for people of all ages and backgrounds. It provides space for social, cultural, and educational activities that encourage exchange and togetherness. At a House of Encounter, regular events, workshops, discussion groups, and leisure activities take place, all designed to strengthen community and foster new connections. Volunteers and staff often work hand in hand to create welcoming programs that promote integration, solidarity, and mutual understanding.

Külz Youth Club

At the Külz Youth Club, young people can find a varied space to spend their free time creatively and together. Whether through sports activities, artistic projects, or casual meetups, there are numerous offerings such as a creative workshop, cooking, discos, concerts in collaboration with other organizations, and holiday programs where talents can be discovered and explored. The club places great emphasis on mutual respect and provides support as well as space for personal development. Its open programs and events create a relaxed atmosphere where young people can engage in conversation and make new connections.

VdMK Brandenburg

The Association of Music and Art Schools of Brandenburg (VDMK) unites the public music and art schools of the state as a professional association and is committed to strengthening cultural education. It represents the interests of its member schools to policymakers, public authorities, and society, supporting their work through professional guidance and collaborative development. Its core tasks include promoting young talent and ensuring the quality of artistic education in Brandenburg. The VDMK supports the schools through training programs, exchange formats, project funding, and professional expertise. One of its best-known initiatives is the Sound City Music Festival, in which many volunteers actively take part in planning and implementation.

Children's Voices

Singing connects - the association KinderStimmen e.V. supports children’s and youth choir work in the church communities of the Berlin-Northeast region – specifically in Schildow, Mühlenbeck, Schönwalde, and Schönerlinde. Across a total of eight children’s choir groups, around 70 children aged 3 to 12 sing together. For older singers, there is the Youth Vocal Ensemble, currently bringing together 17 young people aged 10 to 16 who continue to develop their voices. Music, community, and the joy of singing are at the heart of it all. All choir locations are easily accessible by public transport - and open to new children and young people who would like to sing.

Uckermark Stage Schwedt

The Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt (UBS) are a municipal theatre with their own drama and musical ensemble, producing an average of 10 - 12 productions each year. The repertoire is complemented by a wide range of guest performances, including comedy, concerts, and shows. Located near the Polish border, the theatre’s everyday work is shaped by numerous German-Polish cooperation projects. There is a close partnership with Bürgerbühne Schwedt e. V., which includes, among others, the youth theatre club MuT!Klub. As the Theatre for Brandenburg, the UBS also take on the role of a state theatre and tour with their productions primarily throughout the northern part of the region.

Berlin-Brandenburg Foundation of Prussian Palaces and Gardens

The Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG) preserves and maintains the rich cultural heritage of Prussia. It manages magnificent palaces, historic parks, and gardens in Berlin and Brandenburg, making them accessible to the public and sharing their history in diverse ways. Through exhibitions, guided tours, events, and educational programs, the foundation invites visitors to explore, marvel, and enjoy – offering a vibrant experience for everyone who wishes to connect art, history, and nature.
